Connecting TikTok

Connecting a TikTok profile lets Scout read how your videos perform and, after your approval, hand off or publish videos and photo sets you have reviewed.

What it unlocks

Follower and following counts, number of posts, and video views, likes, comments, and shares for the authorized profile.
Launch video performance and owned-content readouts as evidence.
Approved publishing of vertical videos, photo sets, and upload handoffs, including the AI-generated content disclosure where required.

Comment analysis is not part of the Display API access; it needs separate TikTok Research API credentials and is only available when your use case is eligible.

What access is requested

The TikTok sign-in requests these Display API scopes: user.info.basic, user.info.profile, user.info.stats, video.list, video.upload, and video.publish. The upload and publish scopes are used only by approved publish jobs. TractionScout stores a refresh token so syncs can continue.

Prerequisites

A TikTok account you may connect, usually the brand or creator profile whose videos you want to measure.
Permission to manage credentials in the TractionScout project.

TikTok is one of the OAuth connections available during the alpha. Some other social platforms show Coming soon.

Steps

Open Configure → Data Sources and choose TikTok.
Select Connect TikTok. TikTok shows its authorization screen; log in with the profile to connect and approve the requested permissions.
You return to TractionScout with the profile filled in as the Connected profile; there is no separate resource to choose.
Optionally set the sync interval (default 60 minutes). The advanced fields for a pasted access token or a publishing webhook are fallbacks for automation setups and can stay empty.
Save and run the first sync.

After the first sync

The connection shows the last successful sync, and Scout can report on recent videos, audience change, and which launch videos gained traction. When Scout prepares a video or photo set, it appears in the action queue for review; nothing is uploaded or published without approval. The integration reports the number of publish jobs that succeeded.

Common questions

Can I see comments? Not through this connection. Comment analysis needs Research API credentials, which you can configure later if eligible.

Will Scout publish on its own? No. Every publish job needs an explicit approval in the action queue.

Why does the connection say "Reconnect account"? TikTok revoked or expired the token. Sign in again from the connection; imported history is kept.

Can I route publishing through my own tool? Yes. Set the Publishing webhook URL and an auth header so approved packages are handed to your endpoint instead of the TikTok API.

Disconnecting

Open the connection in Data Sources and select Remove connection. The token is deleted with the integration, syncs and publishing stop, and imported evidence stays in the project. To revoke access on TikTok as well, remove TractionScout from the connected apps in your TikTok account settings.
